I WAS amazed by Mr Evely's comments with regard to the proposed Straylands intelligent bollard.
It seems to me that he is trying to justify a decision already made in the face of a public outcry that was not expected.
To say that the bollard is not needed now but will be needed in the future is ridiculous. He should address the numerous existing traffic problems around York and worry about the Straylands bollard if and when it is needed.
Clearly Coun Reid is an astute politician as her comments indicate that she knows she would not have got the answer she wanted if the consultation exercise had included more people.
If a bollard is necessary at Straylands, why not place fixed bollards instead of the so called intelligent bollard for use by the the chosen few?
