WHY is there no system in place to use the waterways of York to get the majority of Ascot race goers in and out quicker?
There are the big White Rose ferries in York and I am sure there would be other ferry services that could lend a hand for the week.
We have a very good river network taking us right to the racecourse. Surely we still have time to develop some system of transporting people from the river. York horse drawn carriages could make a bob or two here - people would think they are coming in like royalty!
We have a natural resource here that is totally under-utilised. And think of the pollution it would be saving.
I have mentioned this to so many council people and just got blank looks. So come on York, every little will help with the traffic congestion.
