HOW many bollards can one city stand?
I have repeatedly questioned the actions of this council and previous councils in closing off certain streets/roads, either with "intelligent bollards" or with "fixed bollards", just to satisfy a minority of city residents wanting a private road.
I have pointed out previously how the closure of more and more roads in this way leads to more traffic on fewer roads and bigger traffic jams!
One has also wondered which roads those drivers from these private roads continue to drive down, in their own vehicles?
However, none of these questions seem to be considered by either council representatives or those selfish residents who want to close their road to all but themselves.
Is this really the way in which democratic government should work, where a minority hold sway over the ignored majority? Or should we be consulting city-wide prior to the closure of such roads as Straylands Grove and others which are or were once through roads?
After all, as vehicle owners, we all pay for the maintenance of these roads that become closed to us.
