I HAVE no doubt that I join all your readers with pity for the poor soul who can no longer get in and out of the bath and has to wash in the sink, (February 5). Nearly two years ago, I was in the same boat. My GP notified the NHS and a charming woman came to assess my needs.
Within days we had a safety rail on the bathroom wall, another banister, raised lavatory seats and other helpful things.
In the morning, at a time suggested by me, a lovely, smiling carer came to help me in and out of the bath.
Unfortunately, I am not so frisky now, but still every day a kind woman comes to help me keep clean and comfortable.
I hear from a physiotherapist that York and Selby District is noted in supplying carers for those unable to care for themselves and we thank God for them.
Mrs Sheila Chilman,
Garbett Way,
York.
