PROMISING young runner Sam Windross is set to stride out for the county cross country team.
The Bootham School 12-year-old won the recent North Yorkshire Cross Country County Championship at Tadcaster to earn a call-up to the county team for forthcoming regional competitions.
Joint head of PE, Rob Graham, said of the Year 7 pupil: "Sam is a very determined and enthusiastic competitor who has responded well to the excellent training opportunities provided both in school and as part of the York local team."
This latest success comes a year after winning the York and district title and marks him out as one to watch for the future.
