FARMERS in Yorkshire with land that is not registered on the Rural Land Register should act now, to avoid losing valuable subsidy payments, warns the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).
To be eligible for payment from the new Single Farm Payment Scheme, all land must be registered with the Rural Land Register. Only farmers whose land is registered will automatically be sent an application form during March/April for the scheme.
Jonathan Beckerlegge, ACCA regional spokesman for the North-East, said: "Farmers with unregistered land should contact the Rural Payments Agency as soon as possible to avoid losing valuable income."
The deadline for the return of completed forms is May 16."
