A SPECIAL safety awareness event has been held at a York college, to increase the awareness of safety problems in the house building industry.
The event, at Askham Bryan College, was organised by the Health and Safety Executive which has worked hard with the industry to improve safety in the region.
Local house builders, big and small, were invited to the event, which included a demonstration run on falls from height, transport management and machinery.
David Dean, principal inspector for the construction industry in West and North York-shire, said: "Smaller house builders, particularly, find it difficult to keep up with the safety aspects of new methods of construction, but they suffer most when incidents occur."
