I WRITE in response to the proposal to request a "path" from Shipton Road to the nearby shops.
There are already three adequate paths to these shops. One from Manor Lane, one from Howard Drive and the third from the Park and Ride site. So why cover yet another patch of green York with a two metre wide stretch of black Tarmac?
It would require the removal of trees in Connaught Court, Fulford Cross, and Tower Gardens. What is our city council trying to achieve?
The next major abomination of "concrete jungle" is Derwenthorpe. There have been many letters in the Press lately calling for the preservation of the natural environment. Why are these correspondents not members of the York Natural Environment Trust? Details can be obtained from me at the address below.
