THE search is on in Yorkshire for the Young Enterprise Business Adviser of the Year.
Each year the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales (ICAEW) offers an award, which goes through regional heats and culminates in the choosing of a national winner, based on submissions from Young Enterprise students.
Competition in Yorkshire is expected to be stiff, with 2,558 students running 249 companies in 151 schools with the help of 300 business advisers. Up and down the country, volunteers from the business community donate time to help the scheme and to offer advice and mentoring support to a Young Enterprise company in their local area. Jane Broadfoot, ICAEW regional manager for Yorkshire, said: "For many students, a business adviser can be a real inspiration."
Judi Watson, chief executive of Young Enterprise Yorkshire and Humber, said: "Bringing business volunteers to work directly with young people is the most effective way of developing a more enterprising Yorkshire & Humber region."
