ONCE again the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution has shown its "benevolence" does not extend to the people of York.
The only slightly revised plans which the RMBI has submitted for the development of its site at Connaught Court in Fulford still do not take into account any of the many powerful objections against the initial proposals made by local residents.
The proposal is once again presented in such a way as to disguise the true nature of the development. Thus the "erection of sheltered accommodation" and "extension of the elderly mentally frail unit" is given prominence, while the largest part of the development is the construction of 90 or so new homes and flats.
That the masons should have re-submitted such an entirely unacceptable proposal in a virtually unchanged form can only be regarded as a slap in the face for the people of York.
