CAPTURED Memories, an exhibition of Colourfield paintings by Heworth artist Elaine Brown, goes on show at Lucius Gallery, Fossgate, York, from February 5 for at least a fortnight.
This will be the second show inside three months for Elaine, a fine art graduate of St Martin's School of Art in 1989, who held her first exhibition since those college days at Victor J's last autumn.
She works part-time as a graphic artist in York and, at home, she has re-established her love of painting since acquiring studio space, duly developing her distinctive "Colourfield" style. "It's abstract in that it's not figurative, but it doesn't involve the patterns and images of abstract art," she says.
Elaine's new works, larger in size than her canvasses at Victor J's, are on sale at £55 upwards. Lucius Gallery is open Tuesday to Saturday, 10am to 6pm.
