Employers in York are being warned that if they don't consider supplying employees with quality training provision in 2005, they may be faced with an imminent staff shortage.
Research by Leeds Met Training has revealed that 36 per cent of York workers surveyed re-evaluated their career prospects over the festive period and considered quitting their job, with more than half (54 per cent) stating that their main goal for 2005 is to gain new skills.
Of the disgruntled workers, 31 per cent also said that this year they would be desperately seeking a job which would provide better career development opportunities.
However, more than a third (36 per cent) of York workers said that this potential employer crisis could easily be avoided if employees had access to a quality training provision at work.
Helen Irving, head of Leeds Met Training, said: "Education and training is key to improving employment prospects and is obviously highly desirable to workers in York."
