TWO years ago, when I wrote to the city council asking if we could have attractive gardens around the base of Clifford's Tower, it was pointed out to me that we had, in fact, a very nice one at this side of York - Tower Gardens.
I have looked at Tower Gardens and can assure you all the trees will have to come down to provide space for the big wheel and all it will entail.
This is not the place for it. I suggest St Helen's Square, opposite the Mansion House. Our ruling councillors can then sit in the gondolas with Gillian Disney, oops, sorry, Cruddas, in the leading one. Then lose the key.
