FOR people driving to and from York along the A19, patience is running out. We must be some of the most patient drivers in the area, but for how much longer?
The resurfacing of Fulford Main Street came first, with all that such a project entails, and lasted for weeks. Then it took two weeks of one-way traffic at Crockey Hill to make a footpath which was at least six metres from the road.
There then were further repairs to Fulford Main Street at the Heslington Lane junction - more one way traffic, and finally a new entrance for a farm off the A19 near Crockey Hill - one-way traffic again.
Queues from all these road works have stretched back several miles and a ten-minute journey has been taking at least 25 minutes.
I make no complaints about the fallen tree across the road, at Crockey Hill, since we, as mere mortals, have no control over such happenings.
But please give us a break, or do we have to find more patience from heaven knows where?
Mrs A S Ashton,
York.
