Mark Addy has gone a long way since he was a stagehand at the York Theatre Royal.
Finding fame with a beautifully judged performance in The Full Monty, he has now overtaken Homer Simpson as America's favourite family man.
Mark has not navigated through the world's seven seas, but he has triumphed in the shark-infested waters of US network television.
And yet our own Hollywood star is still a level-headed York lad.
As they say over there, swell stuff.
