YOUNGSTERS have been lining YorkAid coffers to help the victims of the Asian tsunami.
They include pupils at Stockton-on-the-Forest Primary School who had a Mad Hair Day on the last day before the half-term break.
They came in with their hair arranged in different styles and shapes for the day, organised as part of the school's tsunami fundraising appeal.
The school's teaching assistants have also clubbed together to organise a charity ball on June 25 in the school grounds.
Teaching assistant Justine Bell said organisation for that event was still in the early stages, and help was needed to get the event up and running.
Anyone who thinks they can help should phone Justine at the school on 01904 400570, between 8.30am and 4pm during term time, or email belljustine@hotmail.com or stocktononforest.primary@york.gov.uk
Meanwhile, sweet-toothed children at Housemartins day nursery, Malton, filled Smartie tubes with money after eating the sweets.
Owner Marsha Turnbull said the youngsters raised £530.
She said: "We wanted to try to bring it home to the children that we are so fortunate here, that they had Smarties to eat, and if they could fill the tubes with money they could help children who had lost parents, brothers, sisters and grandparents to get a roof over their head - things we just take for granted."
More than 60 children, aged between six months and four-and-a-half years, attend the nursery.
