Philip Makin, who has made giant strides since moving to North Yorkshire last year, can further underline his riding talents at Southwell tomorrow.
The crack apprentice, who is attached to David Barron's Thirsk stable, has good prospects of completing a treble to add to the 21 winners he has ridden already during the all-weather winter campaign.
Makin can start his scoring aboard Bundaberg in the Bet Direct On All Weather Racing Handicap over eleven furlongs. Trained by Peter Hiatt, who provides Makin with plenty of opportunities, Bundaberg gained a win over this course and distance last week under Chris Catlin when beating Mission Affirmed by a decisive five lengths.
A 6lb penalty hardly looks enough to anchor him tomorrow, especially as Makin's 3lb riding allowance cuts that extra poundage in half. Bundaberg is napped to go in again.
Hiatt also gives Makin the leg-up on The Plainsman in the betdirect.co.uk Maiden Handicap and this lightly-raced gelding is not without a definite chance.
The three-year-old chased home High Dyke in an ordinary maiden here last week and will be better served by racing under handicap conditions tomorrow.
Come What July provides Makin with his third winning shot on the card in the £10,000 Littlewoods Bet Direct Handicap.
Trained by Norma Macauley, the four-year-old has won his last two races.
His latest success, 19 days ago, saw him bolt home with seven lengths to spare and although the handicapper has revised his rating since, this in-form gelding merits every respect as he aims to continue his winning run and complete a great day for Makin.
David Barron, whose influence during the last 12 months has considerably aided Makin's career, saddles Gypsy Fair in the Bet Direct On The Premiership Maiden Stakes and this promising three-year-old is fancied to triumph under Chris Catlin.
Over the jumps at Market Rasen, Argento can give Malton jockey Russ Garritty a winning ride in the Eric & Lucy Papworth Handicap Chase. George Moore's gelding has been runner-up in his three completed races this season, the latest being at Doncaster 10 days ago.
