THE proposed Derwenthorpe housing development is opposed by many people.
At times York is overcrowded and has traffic problems etc, so why add to the existing problems?
It seems there is a nationwide need for more affordable housing and possibly the Joseph Rowntree Foundation could reconsider their proposal.
I suggest a new town along the lines of Stevenage but smaller, with bike tracks, a walking-friendly layout, quality housing and limited in overall size to about 2,500 properties and two miles in diameter.
This radical proposal could set the scene for small town development in Britain and Europe, instead of making towns and cities more congested by adding to already-congested situations.
If JRF want advice I should try to help.
