Heworth 'A' increased their lead at the top of the York Conservative Clubs' Carlsberg UK Snooker League to eight points after a 5-2 win over Bootham 'A'.

Richie Burdett (24 break), Steve Burdett, Clive Whyte, Kevin Gall and Neil Wood (36 break) made it 5-0 for Heworth before Brian Coulson and Barry Rankin (30 break) took the last two frames. Bootham 'A' are now 11 points behind in third place.

Fulford 'A' held on to second spot despite going down 4-3 at Acomb 'A'.

Fulford went 3-1 up through wins by Wayne Puleston, Jeff Brown and Simon England against a reply by Gary Robinson (27 break) for Acomb. Marcus O'Boyle, Adrian Barraclough and Keith Myers won the last three frames for an unlikely 4-3 success for Acomb.

Heworth 'B' continue in fourth place despite losing for the third consecutive time as Bootham 'B' gained a 4-3 victory. George Long won the first frame but Alf Appleby and Mike Braithwaite moved Heworth ahead.

John Wortley and Paul Mahoney regained the lead for Bootham, only for Huw Faircliffe (22 break) to level the match. Tony Lambert won the decisive last-frame to secure Bootham's win.

Fulford 'B' moved off the bottom with 4-3 defeat of Acomb 'B'. Their winners were George Toone, John Addcock, Bernard Appleton and Bob Smith (23 break) with replies from Kevan Ventress, Jeff Keen and Andy Stone.

Barry Rankin (B) maintained his unbeaten record with his ninth win and continues as leader in the Willsden Steel "Player Of The Year" competition. Clive Whyte (H) is second with eight wins in nine matches.

Clive Whyte (H) made a 42 break in the Team KO quarter-final match against Acomb 'B', but his earlier 67 break keeps him in the lead in the North Wolds Printers "Highest Break" competition.
