I SPENT Christmas week visiting my daughter in Birmingham. We really enjoyed a trip on the big wheel there, and I can strongly recommend the experience to your readers.
It was unforgettable, providing breathtaking views across the city. We went in the evening, when hundreds of trees were lit up - it was so magical.
You ride above the city in climate-controlled comfort and enjoy the panoramic views from the large panelled gondolas. If installed in York, it could be a world tourist attraction.
At the same time, there were two other events nearby, adding to the experience on my visit to Brum. York could learn from this too.
They were a stunning outdoor photographic exhibition, a portrait of the planet from above, by French photographer Yann Artus-Bertrand, which does tour the country; and a lovely German Christmas market.
It was fantastic, and I do urge those who decide about these matters to let the people of York share the experience, and use it to help boost our local tourist industry.
Mrs E Rhodes,
