York City Schoolboys Under-12s footballers reached the semi-finals of the Michael Dale Trophy by beating Derby 4-1, which also counted for league points.
York started well and went 1-0 up when a Dan Owers corner ended up in the net via a defender. Adam Thornton got York's second finishing off a good move down the right.
Derby pulled one back early in the second half but Thornton grabbed a second with a left-foot shot and Pete Tasker completed the scoring from close range with ten minutes left. Steven Jarman was outstanding for York.
York's next game is a friendly against York City Development Squad on Saturday, February 19.
York U13s SchoolBoys came away from a tough encounter with Hambleton and Richmond with a 3-1 win.
York dominated early on and Joe Dale put them in front, but Hambleton caught them on the break and equalised just before half-time.
The second period was again dominated by York and a Michael Byram brace gave York victory. Man of the match Ryan Qualter commanded midfield with Cathial Tosh while Alex Fowler gave a hardworking performance.
York play Spen Valley on Saturday at York RI, players meet 9.30am. Confirm availability by ringing Paul or Brenda.

York U11s Schoolboys will contest the semi-final of the Green 'un Cup against Derby on Saturday.
Players should meet at McDonalds on A64 at 8am. Own transport required.
