CHAMELEON Business Interiors of Howden, East Yorkshire, has completed a project to furnish Britain's first multi-purpose one-stop shop for health care in Newham, London.
The new £4.9 million surgery is the very first LIFT - or Local Improvement Finance Trust - project in the UK.
Health Secretary Dr John Reid was there to cut the ribbon, on the trailblazer project for 42 other NHS LIFT ventures to be funded by public and private partnership.
Chameleon not only carried out the project management at the Newham centre, but also supplied and installed all of the desking, seating and storage. It also provided furniture for the conference and training facilities. Shaun Watts, managing director of the firm, which provides tailored solutions for workplace consultancy and design, construction, furniture, logistics and facilities management, said: "This was a very important project for everybody concerned because, as Newham is the first centre of its kind in the UK, the spotlight was very firmly on. Happily, we were able to call upon our experience in previous major fit-outs for NHS trusts and we successfully delivered the scheme on time - and on budget."
Chameleon's involvement in Newham follows its successful furnishing of the new Golden Jubilee Wing at King's College Hospital, in London.
