YORK City have missed out on a £50,000 windfall after Chris Hogg's move to Hibernian from Ipswich Town.
The former Minstermen defender needed to make just one senior appearance for Ipswich and the KitKat Crescent club would have received the payment as part of his £150,000 transfer in June 2001.
But Hogg signing for the Scottish Premier Division outfit in a two-and-a-half-year deal means the clause will not now be triggered.
The 6ft defender (pictured left on England Under-19s' duty) made nine appearances for the Championship club's reserve team this season.
He had not even broken into City's first team when he moved to Portman Road at the age of 16 but did make 11 appearances on loan to League Two club Boston United last season.
Hogg is now 19 but will be unable to play for Hibs until next month after severing an artery in his arm on Boxing Day during a burglary at his parents' home in Middlesbrough.
