Selby Town produced a superb all-round team performance to hold Conference North side Harrogate Town to a 1-1 draw at Flaxley Road in the West Riding County Cup quarter-final.
The Northern Counties East League premier division leaders started brightly last night only to fall behind after 25 minutes when Town's former York City midfielder Leigh Wood nodded in a cross at the far post.
Town pressed for a killer second goal but the Robins held out and five minutes into the second half Joe Connor's curling 25-yard free-kick thumped against the crossbar.
Just as it looked like the Conference North outfit had guaranteed their semi-final slot, Selby struck five minutes from time when Adam Wash put substitute Tom Matthews through and he calmly rounded the 'keeper.
In the first period of extra time, Selby goalkeeper Adam Mitchell made a great save from Danny Holland.
While Selby live to fight on, Tadcaster Albion's hopes of a quarter-final upset were stymied when the NCEL first division hosts were beaten 2-0 by UniBond League side Ossett Albion.
Tadcaster had the better of the first half, but second half strikes from Asa Ingall and Mick Norbury did the damage.
The hosts may have had a penalty when Steve Ward appeared to be hauled down and late on Matt Howgate struck a post.
Home comfort was enjoyed by Goole Town, who beat Mickleover Sports to go second in the NCEL premier division.
Inroads on the title race will be sought by both Pickering Town and Harrogate Railway tonight.
The Pikes travel to Hallam while The Rail - in third place - entertain Shirebrook.
