I WOULD like to congratulate Knavesmire Harriers Running Club on their excellent promotion of the Brass Monkey Half Marathon.
From its humble beginnings a good few years back it has developed into a first rate event outlasting several races which were also around then.
I remember winning a pair of socks and a bottle of wine but those days are now gone.
On Sunday I race-walked the route as opposed to many runners. Way behind the rest of the field I was encouraged by checkpointers, refreshment helpers and the follow-up car to the finishing line where I was warmly received.
Thank you Harriers and I hope to be faster in 2006.
John McClure,
Celtic Close,
York.
