LEONARD Clarke shows a keen grasp of history (Letters, January 25). Guy Fawkes was indeed executed for plotting against leaders who disregarded the will and welfare of the people, namely the witch-burner James I and his slimy ministers.
For me, St Peter's School-educated Guy was the only person ever to enter Parliament with honest intentions.
Come back, poor Fawkesy. All is forgiven.
