AFTER a disheartening 28-16 loss to Ilkley, Selby will be hoping for much better things when they travel to Goole in Yorkshire One.

It's a game Selby must win if they are not to get dragged down towards the league's bottom three.

While the club's Intermediate Cup performances have been sensational, league success has eluded Selby and the Sandhill Lane lads have won just five in 14.

Goole have not fared much better in comparison and, with just three wins, this looks ripe for Selby to force their way back into mid-table position.

Elsewhere, sides will be looking to get back into action after the weather conspired to claim the majority of last weekend's fixtures.

With Pocklington's game at home to Bradford Salem postponed because of a frozen pitch, the East Yorkshire club will now look forward to an away clash at North Ribblesdale.

Pocklington stand third and North Ribblesdale fourth in Yorkshire Two, so an away win would put a bit of daylight between the two clubs and help Pock keep up the pace on leaders Sheffield Tigers.

York RI will be able to measure how far they've improved as the season has gone on when they travel to top-of-the-table Barnsley in Yorkshire Three.

RI will be without No 8 Nathan Ashman and hooker Alec Webster, but can choose from a full strength squad otherwise.

Last time the two sides met, Bradford triumphed 28-10 at the RI ground.

But club spokesman Nigel Lowery said RI had improved since that game. "We think we are a better side now," he said. "Barnsley are the form side in the league and this will be a measure of how far we have come. We have got two games in hand and, if we win them, we will be in the top half of the table."
