I WAS shocked to read the Dringhouses and Woodthorpe Ward Budget 2005/6 provision in the February 2005 Your Ward.
A massive £10,000 is earmarked for anti-yob patrols.
This is policing pure and simple. Therefore the community rangers should be funded by the police budget.
How can these ward councillors defend their spending decisions?
A paltry £2,000 (or £38.46 per week) is reserved for hospital and community disabled support.
Clearly decent people, through age or illness, requiring respite are not a priority.
More importantly, were a number of other "unlisted" schemes more deserving?
Our decision-makers presented loaded questionnaires which tend to produce warped results.
That £10,000 would enrich many lives.
Perhaps councillors Ann Reid, Sue Sunderland and Thomas Holvey would care to explain their priorities.
