PROMOTION-SEEKING New Earswick All Blacks ARL Club maintained their unbeaten home record this season as another fine display brought a 36-10 win over Crigglestone.

The result brought the York club to within two points of Pennine League division two leaders Newsome Panthers, who have played a game more.

All Blacks went ahead on six minutes when scrum-half Ben Jones pounced on an Alan Pallister kick through to score under the posts, Dave Carling converting, before Crigglestone levelled with a copycat converted try.

Stand-off Chris Judge had been at fault for that score but went on to give a man-of-the-match display, with second-row Alan Davidson and centre Dan Wellard also particularly impressive.

Judge sent Wellard over out wide to regain the lead for the home team and Wellard soon got his second try from a Jo Jo Hnesh pass.

On the half-hour mark, a great run by Jones saw Pallister send Jamie Rhodes crashing over, and the game was virtually over as a contest when on the stroke of half-time, Judge broke through the middle of the defence and took three tacklers with him as he sent the supporting Carling racing 30 yards, side-stepping the full-back, to score the try of the match. Jones' second conversion made it 26-6 at the break.

The hosts upped their lead when Judge dummied three times to score under the posts, Jones converting, and, although the visitors kept going and got a deserved try, All Blacks had the final say when an inside pass from Pallister sent Hnesh in.

York Acorn 'A' team's top-of-the-table clash with Wyke in division four was postponed, while York Groves suffered a crushing derby defeat in division five, losing 39-0 to third-placed Wetherby Bulldogs. Bank Top Harriers drew level at the top with Selby Warriors, who weren't playing, thanks to a 26-6 win at Cowling Harlequins.
