HOW heart-warming it is that the family of tsunami victim Steve Magson should be thinking of others at such a dark and difficult time.
York man Steve is missing presumed dead after the Asian tsunami which shocked the world and left such a terrible toll.
Miraculously, the wave which took his life on Phi Phi Island in Thailand on Boxing Day spared his wife and daughter, Denise and India, who were lifted on top of a building.
In common with thousands of people in countries around the globe, the Magson family is having to come to terms with the worst sort of personal loss.
Yet before Steve's death has even been officially confirmed, the family is founding a trust to honour his name and carry out work in Thailand.
The Steve Magson Trust aims to help rebuilding the shattered community in Thailand that gave them support in their time of direst need. The first fund-raising event will take place on Saturday at the Winning Post pub in York.
This benefit gig has been organised by India's friend Rab Cullen Dent, who wanted to do something to help his oldest friend.
Very many acts of kindness and generosity have followed the tsunami, from the small and personal to the large and public.
Last Saturday's concert at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff raised nearly £1.25m. Next Saturday's concert in York, while clearly on a much smaller scale, is invested with the same noble desire to help.
