IN the Eighties these boys from Basildon had a penchant for posing and electro-pop.
Two decades later they have become rock royalty, crowned the kings of the re-mix. Here is their magnum opus: a special edition three-CD compilation spanning three decades where the best in the business give the DM back catalogue a good working over. Collaborations with the likes of William Orbit, Goldfrapp and Kruder & Dorfmeister ensure quality control over the 36 tracks.
Highlights are Dave Bascombe's Never Let Me Down Again, with its cavernous echo and hypnotic electro-beat, and Home, in which Air add a touch of their mesmeric magic. A must for all die-hard Depeches, but the rest of us may prefer a bit of editing. If so, the single CD version is a better bet.
