I HAVE recently become aware of a potential hazard to motorists at the junction of Burdyke Avenue and Water Lane.
Occasionally, vehicles approaching the junction wanting to turn right into Burdyke flash waiting vehicles to exit ahead of them to give them a clear turn into Burdyke.
The danger arises in the dark when vehicles travelling along Water Lane towards the off-set roundabout, approach the junction with Burdyke. The road humps, a few feet from the junction, cause these vehicles to rise and fall quickly, simulating a flash of headlights.
This encourages vehicles to exit Burdyke ahead of them.
I have seen this being acted upon by motorists and have had it happen to me, although, being aware of the phenomenon, I do not act upon it.
I feel the humps in the road at this point are misplaced and should be moved or eradicated altogether to avoid the potential for accidents.
