MOST readers' letters so far this year have been gripes and moans, be it car park charges, planning decisions, bad driving, cyclists, buses et al.
Please "Ed", can't we have a day that looks on the bright side of life?
To get you started, here is what I like. There's actually not much that I don't like really. Sprouts, maybe.
1 Morning porridge with honey.
2 Walking to the shops daily with cheery "good mornings" from most people that I pass.
3 Italian blend ground coffee from Tesco.
4 Assam tea bags from Sainsbury's.
5 Home made cakes and pies.
6 Neighbours.
7 Christmas: I like the carol singers even when out of tune.
8 Haxby carnival.
9 My wife.
10 York Evening Press (have to include that to get this published).
11 Countdown on the telly.
12 Recent fashion of young ladies' bare midriffs, oh, and mini skirts of course.
13 Being retired, beats banking any day.
So, come on you letter writers, let's have your baker's dozen.
Bernard Lyne,
Usher Park Road,
Haxby,
York.
