Six Yorkcraft employees have completed NVQs in warehousing and distribution, delivered at York Training Centre.
The achievement of Mark Sands, Gordon Overall, Alan Foster, Gary Moffat, Kevin Taylor and Simon Thompson is all the more impressive because they completed their NVQs in just nine months. They were the second round of candidates from Yorkcraft to enjoy NVQ success during the last year.
Yorkcraft provides supported employment and learning opportunities for people with disabilities in York and North Yorkshire through its Workstep programme, which is funded by City of York Council and Job Centre Plus.
Thirty of the people on the programme are working within the Yorkcraft factory obtaining skills and qualifications to progress into supported employment with host organisations.
The factory provides a range of job skills for people in mailing, sign-making, production work, sub-assembly, warehousing, distribution, and picking and packing.
Richard Douglas, manager of employment services at Yorkcraft, said: "All of the candidates worked extremely hard to achieve this success and we are absolutely delighted for them. They were the second group of people to complete their NVQs this year, so it is fantastic news for Yorkcraft as well as for the individuals themselves."
