POCKLINGTON RUFC slipped up badly on their visit to West Park Bramhope for their re-arranged Yorkshire Two game, where they received a lesson in driving forward play from the home side who won 22-5.
Perhaps promotion-chasing Pock overestimated their opponents. But they found West Park, who have under performed this season, equally determined to get the points to stop them being sucked into the relegation dogfight.
Park drove down the hill to apply early pressure, and they took a stranglehold on the game that they never relaxed.
They came close in both corners before slipping through in midfield to open the scoring, and their heavyweight pack proceeded to batter at the Pocklington line before again crashing over.
West Park crossed for a third try just before the interval, but Pocklington's spirits were briefly raised with an excellent try on the restart. Full-back Guy Hope ran from pen to blind to break clear on halfway and he charged to within ten yards of the line before handing on to wing Karl Hart to dive over.
However, any thoughts of a Pock comeback were soon dashed as WP kicked a penalty to the corner and drove over from the lineout.
Pock kept trying to run out of defence, but invariably they dropped the ball or gave away a penalty and West Park ended the game well on top.
