For once, I must agree with Mike Usherwood (Letters, January 14).
My office overlooks a disabled parking area, that serves York's Central Library. Many a lunchtime, I see selfish able-bodied drivers parking there. Many have no business to transact at the library, but just walk away into the city centre.
Servicing and delivery vehicles can also be spotted there.
When holidaying in France a few years ago, my wife and I cycled to the walled town of Dinan. Each disabled parking bay had a low level sign which translated to "If you steal my place, you can have my disability". At the risk of cluttering up the city streetscape with yet more signs, could York adopt this excellent way of shaming those who abuse facilities for blue badge holders?
