FRIENDS will become foes tomorrow when a troupe of ex-Knights return to town - and one man particularly looking forward to the contest is Darren Callaghan.

Chris Langley, Craig Farrell and Dean Andrews all made the off-season switch from York City Knights to Doncaster Dragons, joining up with ex-Yorkies Gareth Lloyd, Dale Cardoza, Jonny Woodcock and coach St John Ellis at Belle Vue.

They will all be back at Huntington Stadium tomorrow to face the Knights in a pre-season friendly. And for Callaghan, who could well find himself going head-to-head in the centres with old mate Langley, the match is especially enticing.

"It would be nice to play against him," he told the Evening Press. "I'm still in touch with him now and again and we spent New Year with him.

"He had a good season last year for us, scoring a lot of tries, so it will be good for me to try to get one over on him.

"He got four tries against Hunslet (in a friendly) last weekend so it will be a good test for me. Hopefully he won't get four against me. I'm looking forward to it, it will be good to see how it goes."

Callaghan has filled a plethora of roles down the years and these days plays either centre or second-row, but he doesn't mind which shirt he gets as long as he gets a shirt.

"Mick Cook (head coach) might give me a run-out in the second row but we're short on numbers in the centres. I will play anywhere; if I'm in the 17 I don't really mind. I like second row - you get a bit more involved, which is my game - but I played some of my best games in the centre last year, so as long as I'm playing I'm not too bothered."

He added: "Training is going very well. With the coaches we've got down there like Mick Cook, Beans (Paul Broadbent) and Daryl Powell, there's a lot of good input.

"Hopefully it's improving my game for either position. Playing in the centre is a bit different in defence but with Mick there talking to me, giving a lot of good input, I'm learning a lot."
