POCKLINGTON will hope to build on a victorious start to the New Year by beating West Park Bramhope in a rearranged match in Yorkshire Two.
The East Yorkshire side travel to Leeds to play the Yorkshire One game which was postponed because of Pocklington's outing in the Powergen Vase.
Last week's 23-9 win over Scarborough pushed Pocklington up to second place and tomorrow's game sees centre Harry Allen and prop John-Paul Kelly (pictured right) added to the squad, after both were ruled out against the Seasiders with knocks, while utility back Henry Mitchell drops out after returning to university.
Pocklington have already played West Park at home twice in November, and had real battles both times before winning by two and nine points respectively - so they are expecting another hard game at Bramhope this Saturday.
Malton and Norton will look to recover from a heartbreaking last-kick loss last time out by routing Skipton in the second round of the Yorkshire Shield.
A penalty in the dying seconds saw them pipped 23-21 at home to North 2 East leaders Westoe and, while Yorkshire One side Skipton promise to offer a tough encounter, victory will see confidence rebuilt before the league campaign resumes away at Stockton in eight days' time. Malton, who fell at the final hurdle last season, will field the same team which started against Westoe.
York, who have had the benefit of an extra week's rest, will be champing at the bit to get out on the park at Old Crossleyans in a club match.
The Clifton Parkers had been due to face Hartlepool last week, but heavy rain and gales made the Teesside club's ground unfit for play.
Now, instead of kicking off 2005 against the league's basement club, York will have to make do with a work-out against the Yorkshire One side, who lost narrowly to Selby last weekend.
York RI, whose game at Northallerton also fell victim to the weather, have no league game this weekend but a mixed side will turn out against a Ripon II team to give the players some much-needed practice.
