HAVING served for 37 years in the Royal Air Force and still having a keen interest in aviation past and present, I have been following the correspondence about noise from training aircraft operating from RAF Linton-on-Ouse.
I agree with the remarks made by Philip Rowe (Letters, January 9) because for many years I also have been aware of the moans and groans about noise and low-flying in the Vale of York.
Linton-on-Ouse has been an active airfield since 1937 and from 1939 to 1945, when Linton and other local airfields were operating, night and day with noisy, four-engined heavy bombers, I cannot find evidence of a single complaint.
Those who complain about aircraft noise should recall the old adage: "If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen".
