County supremacy is at the feet of Rossett High School's under-13 girls football team on the eve of the North Yorkshire County Cup final.

The Harrogate side have battled through three rounds to give themselves a chance of playing in some of the country's top football stadia as part of the Coca Cola English Schools' Cup.

Rossett reached the last two after beating Tadcaster Grammar 5-2 in the first round, Settle Middle 2-1 in the quarter-final and Ingleton Middle 3-2 in the semi - all away from home.

Now they must face free-scoring Wensleydale School from Leyburn at Thirsk School to take the North Yorkshire title and progress to the Northern Schools Cup to face other regional champions.

The northern final will be held in a top professional stadium and the winners of that will go through to the National semi-finals with the grand final to be held at a Premiership club - last season's finals were hosted at Chelsea's Stamford Bridge.

Beating Wensleydale though will not be an easy task. They put nine past King James's of Knaresborough and Scarborough's Pindar School in the first two rounds before beating St John Fisher 3-0 in the semi-final.

The final kicks off at Thirsk School tomorrow at 1.30pm.
