ON the wind turbines debate, I agree with Coun Christian Vassie (Letters, January 9). We need to act now to protect earth.
I recently visited the North East from where I originate. To my surprise, there are now three wind turbines situated outside the small village where I grew up. They are beautiful. Silently turning gracefully, silhouetted against the sky.
What's more, they are situated next to a 300-year-old windmill. Yes they dwarf it. Yes the windmill is full of rustic charm.
But what do you think the villagers said 300 years ago when some upstart went and built that great whirling behemoth outside the village?
Accept change for what it is. Progress.
