CONTRARY to Charles Forbes-Adam's statement, I have not just moved into the area ("Bellamy slams wind turbines", January 7). Indeed I have lived in this vicinity for over 75 years and my family has been in the area for probably as long as the Forbes-Adam family.
But how long we've all lived in the area is surely irrelevant when considering how we all feel about our environment today?
I love my home. I love the wonderful flat landscape with its wide skies where so many flocks of birds fly freely.
This vast glacial plain called the Vale of York is special to me and I don't want to see any more enormous structures intruding into its landscape.
Skipwith Common is also to be treasured. Its wildness is important to those who walk there and its accessibility important for all who need to escape life's stresses for a while.
Isn't tranquillity one of the key selling points of the superb new Hollicarrs Holiday Park? Everyone needs to be able to "escape" at times. Two gigantic man-made wind turbines, restlessly on the move, will surely destroy all that.
I very much hope it is not too late for Mr Forbes-Adams to be brave enough to recognise this development will not be popular. Our environment doesn't deserve to suffer at the expense of what many experts see as a very inefficient way of solving the planet's problems.
