In reply to John Reed, I am totally fed up with the whinging over the flying patterns at RAF Linton. Having first lived at Newton for 23 years, then moving to Linton in 1974, l just cannot see what all the fuss is about.
Yes it does get noisy from the flying but then so is the traffic day in day out; it is something we have learnt to live with over the years.
RAF Linton was here long before most houses were built in the area - 1937 to be exact. So where would people like it to move? Or maybe close it down. That would make a few people happy, but not those who would lose their livelihoods.
John Reed thinks the Tucano is noisy, the Jet Provost was far worse and as for Yorkshire being a quiet county, you only have to go to RAF Leeming.
Long ago it was the Vulcan now it's the Tornado. And people think the Tucano is noisy.
