WHY are York City allowed to get away with switching home games from Bank Holidays to nights to avoid paying the police extra money?
Recently, Yeading had to switch their FA Cup tie with Newcastle to an alternative venue, mainly due to safety reasons, but the FA clearly stated that any extra income gained due to this would have to be paid to the FA as Yeading could not keep any extra revenue.
Surely, City moving games to avoid paying extra policing costs falls into the same category and is classed as gaining extra income.
I think something should be done about this as it has happened for the last three seasons where games have been moved to midweek.
I can understand if it was on police advice, but would York v Burton Albion cause any problems? No.
I think it should stop as fans enjoy Bank Holiday fixtures without the worry of work.
