JUST who does York City's caretaker manager Viv Busby think he is?
Supporters have been through enough without having to suffer him.
Yet again he has chosen to criticise the young players after another miserable defeat. This is disgusting.
Players such as David Stockdale, Michael Staley and Paul Robinson represent the future of York City. In the past the sale of young players (Jonathan Greening, Richard Cresswell) has kept the club afloat. Is Busby aware of this?
These talented young players have rarely played in a winning team, so their confidence is bound to be low. Yet Busby lowers their morale further with his deplorable comments following the Burton Albion match.
It seems he has been employed on the basis of an old pals' act. He gives Paul Groves a day off training while dragging the youngsters in. Groves has been consistently atrocious this season - as has Lee Nogan.
But dare Busby attack the senior players? Of course not, for they wield more influence than him in his caretaker role. Of course finances are extremely tight, but I urge the York City board to appoint a manager.
An experienced non-League manager is essential and his salary would not break the bank. John Reed at Harrogate Town would be a good choice.
I wish the young players at York City all the best at this formative time of their careers and pity them for having to be patronised by Busby. Soon I am sure these players will be full-time professional footballers, and Busby will have returned to football obscurity.
