Perhaps I should have warned W Elliott that my suggestion to fund an army of litter wardens was a tongue-in-cheek reaction to Coun Percival's draconian proposal to impose an anti-social behaviour order (ASBO) on his local McDonalds outlet.
Neither solution would have any effect on the disgusting behaviour of some of their customers.
In line with Mr Elliot's solution, perhaps we should consider closing down all these purveyors of junk food and litter.
At least this would encourage more healthy eating.
Unfortunately, this would also result in thousands of young (and some not-so-young) people being deprived of their staple diet of burgers, pizzas and chips.
I don't pretend to know what the answer is to the behaviour of these disgusting individuals but I do know that ASBOs and increased parking charges will not solve the problem of litter, in the form of discarded fast-food containers and their contents, in streets and gardens.
