Teenage full-back Stuart Kain will be keenly watched in the coming weeks after a promising senior debut against Leeds Rhinos.
The 18-year-old came on for York City Knights during their 38-24 defeat of the Super League champions after training with the squad for a number of weeks, and chief executive Steve Ferres says they will be keeping a close eye on him in the run up to the new National League Two season.
Kain, who was last year a member of the Castleford Tigers under-18 Academy, was introduced to the team by dad John, who has been coaching and doing consultancy work for the Knights, and made a big enough impression on new head coach Mick Cook to get a run-out.
Said Ferres: "He's been training with us with a view to us taking him on and for his first game at that level he had a sound game and he can take comfort from the fact he did so well.
"He's someone we will continue to monitor."
