YORK City's joint-top scorer Andy Bishop is set to be recalled to the starting line-up for tomorrow's trip to Northwich Victoria.

Bishop, 22, missed Tuesday night's 1-1 draw against Halifax after twisting his ankle in the previous match against Carlisle United.

But the former Walsall striker resumed training yesterday and is fit enough to replace Lev Yalcin.

Caretaker boss Viv Busby said: "Bish is back in training and should be OK for Saturday.

"If he is fit, he will probably go straight back in because he's been playing really well recently and has only been out for one game."

Darren Dunning, who along with Bishop is City's leading marksman on four goals, will also be restored to the team after being a substitute on Tuesday night because teenage midfielder Kane Ashcroft is expected to be out for three weeks after suffering ligament damage against the Shaymen.

Busby said: "It's disappointing for young Kane. He did extremely well but he's out with a ligament strain now and Darren Dunning will come straight back in."

Gary Pearson's shoulder is also still sore and fellow midfielder Matthew Coad will not be available for three weeks after a hernia operation, but centre-back Steve Davis is close to a return after a long lay-off with a hip injury.

Davis has started running in training as well as twisting and turning.

Chris Brass, who played despite suffering from 'flu against Halifax, is fit despite taking a knock to his foot and new signing Paul Robinson will also travel to Northwich although he is unlikely to play any part.

Striker Robinson, 20, has reached a financial settlement to release him from his contract with Tranmere Rovers and has joined the Minstermen on a month-to-month basis.

Busby said: "I'm not sure whether he's fit enough to go straight in the team or on the bench but he will be part of the squad.

"It will be up to him to prove to us he's worth a contract. If he does really well we will have to look at giving him a long-term deal."

Busby is calling for his side to display consistency and reproduce the form at Northwich that has seen them take four points from teams in the top three in their last two games.

He said: "Every team is a threat and we need to perform again because they are working hard to make up the ten-point deduction after going into administration."

Busby also added that he is happy to continue managing City on a caretaker basis and has had no further discussions with the board about making his position permanent, saying: "I'm not thinking about that. I think things have settled down now so there's no need to panic about making things more permanent.

"All the players have realised this is how it will be for a while even though I don't know for how long."
