BOOTHAM CC 'A' have now got their eye on taking the York and District Table Tennis League division one title after they crushed champions Sessions 'A' 9-1. Paul Eastwood and Jon Wooldridge were unbeaten for Bootham.

Third-placed Poppleton 'A' were much too strong for York RI 'B' winning 9-0, Richard Moss and Steve Ayres each winning three.

York RI 'A' and York RI B' finished all square at 5-5. Stephen Robinson excelled to win all three for the 'B' team.

Groves WMC 'B' thrashed the University 10-0, though three wins from Mick Kenyon helped Groves 'A' draw 5-5 with the University.

Division two leaders Holgate WMC 'B' were held 5-5 by Bootham CC 'B'. Pete Corner and Richard Ingleby each won two for Bootham and Ed Wardman two for Holgate.

Nestl Rowntree 'A' had a close 6-4 win over York RI 'D', with David Lamb unbeaten for Nestl.

Three wins from Dave Hough helped Sessions 'B' to a 5-5 draw with Northern Electric. Terry Nicholson and Dave Hough each won three as Sessions 'B' beat Groves WMC 'C' 6-4.

Three wins from Richard Bowman put Poppleton 'C' on the way to a 7-3 win over York RI 'E'.

Bootham CC 'C' stretched their division three lead after a 9-1 win over Shepherds 'A'. Steve Milner and Bob Plant were unbeaten for Bootham.

Chasing them hard are Holgate WMC 'C' who beat Norwich Union 'A' 8-2. John Temple won all three for Holgate, but Simon Prins was beaten for the first time when he went down 11-7 11-4 8-11 9-11 5-11 to Richard Church.

Shepherd 'C' went down 8-2 to Holgate WMC 'D'. Clive Warley won all three for Holgate and Shazard Omar played well to win two for Shepherds.

Groves WMC 'D' head division four after they beat third-placed Sessions 'C' 7-3. Mick Belton winning all three for Groves.
