I WAS appalled to see the front page of the Evening Press showing the York Dungeon's offer of Satan's Grotto just to cash in on the Christmas season.

I am broadminded, but find this to be in extremely bad taste and contemptible of the Christian religion.

In this "politically correct" society what would be said if another religion was insulted in the way York Dungeon has chosen to demean Christianity?

Why is Christianity seen as something so unimportant? Christmas is supposed to be a celebration of Christ's birth, not an opportunity to degrade and upset many believers to make money.

Even my 16-year-old daughter was disgusted by the article. She said: "It looks like worshipping Satan and takes the whole meaning out of Christmas".

It is unbelievable that, according to the comment in the Evening Press, this is seen as harmless fun, when in fact it is an insult at a time supposed to be about peace and goodwill and is typical of today's attitude towards Christianity.

I was brought up with Christian values and agree with the concerns of church leaders, that by allowing children to think the occult is harmless it can be dangerous at a time when they are vulnerable and nave. It saddens me to think people see the actions of York Dungeon as acceptable and is obviously typical of today's moral-free society.

I hope that it is banned for good and people realise Christianity is not a joke to be ridiculed.
